As you get older, do you still appreciate Disney films, or have they lost their charm?

I still watch one once in a while. The brilliance of the films is that they are entertaining for children, but contain great messages for adults.

I LOVE Disney and other animated films. Whenever I watch Lion King, I start to tear up every time when Mufasa dies. Mm...so sad D: And in All Dogs Go to Heaven, not a Disney film but still a childrens animation, when Charlie comes back as an angel to visit Ann Marie, I start to tear up then too! And I'm not one to get emotional about things.

I still enjoy most of them. Some of the "classics" are indeed that, while others are way too sugary for my taste now.

I appreciate them more now. Maybe it's because it's fantasy with a good guy and a bad guy (the good guy prevails of course)... a decent bit of escapism :-)

I have begun to see them as vulgar displays of misogyny and classism.

I appreciate some of the jokes in the newer ones more as an adult especially the one with Robin Williams and the art/animation more now in the old classics.

I think they have lost their charm with how Disney cranks out so many animated features now. I still remember the Jungle Book and Robin Hood from my childhood and still like the movies, but cannot remember the last time a actually watched a Disney Movie.

I collect them on DVD and watch them frequently. I still enjoy the stories greatly, but I've found the gender roles in them to be unsettling...particularly the older ones.

I absolutely *Despised* Disney films when I was a child, and even now there's only a few that I can sit all the way through. Once Disney ran out of old folktales and legends to plagiarize, their films started declining in quality drastically, so many of the newer ones are absolute travesties of writing that even die-hard Disney fans won't touch with a ten-foot pole. And as for the old Disney "Classics", I'd rather read or watch the *Original* versions of those stories than watch Disney's misogynistic bastardisations of them.

They have lost their charm and what really put me off them was Disney's (threatening) advertising campaign that unless you bought them now they would be locked away for 20 years or something. It just really made me angry enough not to want to watch them. I don't like being threatened into buying something.

I really appreciate the old ones since they take me back to a more innocent time when I would absorb myself in their fantasies. Since I didn't have a really happy childhood with my parents always arguing and their bitter divorce when I was 11, the disney fantasy was all the more a sancutary from my real life. Once I grew up,got married and had children, it was so gratifying to take them to DisneyWorld and watch them experience the films too. It was like I relived it through them. I know it may sound alittle odd but everyone needs to escape the real world now and then in some way. My kids still watch the films --especially my 22 year old daughter!! Thanks for asking --- it brings back good memories of the few I had as a kid.

I adore anything Disney, especially the old films, but the new are ok too. I still collect stuffed animals and other Disney toys.

I think I will always appreciate them. Of course, I'm refering to the animated classics and not the hideous non-animated features such as "The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes".

I love the classic Disney movies... Lion King, LIttle Mermaid, Aladdin, etc. the Fox and the Hound still makes me cry

I think I appreciate them more - there are alot of things in them that I "get" now, that I didn't when I was a little girl. plus, they have the bonus now of taking me back to childhood, which was pretty good, so whenever I watch them I get all happy and a teeny bit wistful.

I appreciate them, especially when I take a child to see them. I didn't like Toy Story as much as the kids did, and some seem less charming then when I was a child, but I still like nearly all of them.

I don't enjoy watching them myself as much as i used to ofcourse good ones do pop up every once in a while. But seeing my girls watch Cinderella is like E.t.'s debut all over again!

I still like the early ones, and those that are from the old Wonderful world of Disney TV series, like Charlie the Lonesome Cougar and The Horse in the Gray Flannel Suit, That Darn Cat. THey are all superior to most current things showing in theaters and tv.

Disney films will be as charm and classic as before even in future. They got their own class. I like to ask whether is there any cartoon film nowadays that can match the classic of drawing piece-by-piece character and action of Snow White?

I think when 3D animation obliterated 2D, Disney failed to realize that animation format is not what determines the quality of film... but good character development, plot, good story, and a good sense of drama is essential for a great film. The Lion King had a good balance of things- it was deep, emotional, fun, beautiful, and overall moving. I think Disney is afraid to introduce kids to violence and death because they think it will mortify them for life, hence why it feels so limited in almost every film :P PEh...

I rewatch my faves every couple of months, and I am constantly watching/ listening to the songs on youtube. And of course, singing said songs in the house, whenever I happen to be awake. I know, I'm pathetic. XD

I like the disney movies and have some of the older ones on vhs tape ~ but time moves on and movies are more enhanced in every detail with DVD and the new Blue Ray

I still do but every time I tried to watch any of them, it makes me think of the past and the present of the 20th and 21st century and the fads. For example, I tried to watch Dumbo but it made me listen to the Andrews Sisters and go to jazz clubs. I tried to watch Robin Hood but it made me listen to disco, go to Studio 54, stay up late on a Saturday night and sing some songs.

I appreciate the classic Disney films from when I was a kid. The Lion King, The Jungle Book, Aladdin, Tarzan, Mulan, Hercules, The Hunchback of Notre Dame are probably my favourites. I hate the way Disney has become though. It has morphed into something that creates horrors like High School Musical and rip-offs of their older, better movies that aren't anywhere near as good. I understand the movies better now than when I was a kid too. They used to put in jokes that little children wouldn't get, but now I do. I haven't watched any of these movies in years... but this question is giving me a craving for it. =P
