  • She really seemed like a nice person once she got away from Svengali. Misguided for sure but I believe she was sincere. Rest easy Tammy Fae.
  • She did seem like a precious & forgiving person who had alot of hardship in her life brought on by the men she loved the most. Through all of her stuggles she kept her head up high & faith in the lord. I hope she has eternal peace. She went through so much in her time on earth, she will be missed.
  • I was extremely sad to hear of her death. I was shocked at her appearance on Larry King last Thursday. Even though she was upbeat and thankful that she had finally gained 5 LBs, I knew she was going to be gone within a matter of days. Lots of people have made fun of her down through the years. It never seemed to bother her. She was comfortable in her own skin. She was kind, loving, and forgiving. When asked by Larry King what she hoped people would remember her for she stated, "My eyelashes."
  • I felt terrible for her suffering after seeing her on Larry King. I knew she had very little time. I agree that she became more "real" once she got away from Bakker, however, she wasn't entirely so innocent and I never heard her once apologize for the way she took advantage of the PTL flock's donations with her lavish living and later feigned total ignorance once Bakker was exposed. I never believed that any wife could (or was) so duped as she claimed to be as she was not only living the life but working in the same field as her husband. She probably just went along with everything so as not to have to give up the life she was so used to living. Also, once Jim was incarcerated, she quickly moved to divorce him as he left her without (although I am sure she had a hidden bank account of her own somewhere, she wasn't exactly destitute). What happened to the 'stand by your man' for better or for worse, Tammy?......something she seemed to have done when second husband Ron Messner was arrested. She had no problem staying married to him during his imprisonment. Well....it is all moot now, but suffice to say, I would have had a lot more respect for her had she taken on some of the blame for the way they lived and acted and apologized to the public, not for her husband's ways, but for her own part of the scam. RIP, Tammy.
  • I'm sorry to hear of her passing. She was a person after all. As to the kind of person she was she will always be a thief and a liar to me. I have never found a word taht came out of her mouth to be sincer. Always a way to get more money or sympathy. The way she ducked out on taking any responsability for the ministry she was deeply involved in sickened me. And to marry a second crook just proved to me what she was. A crook and a con-artist, not a woman of God as she claimed.
  • She was alot of fun to watch. Seemed really sweet.
  • My heart goes out to her family and loved ones.
  • I absolutely loved her! I cried when I found out she had died-and I NEVER cry! She was true and real, and the sweetest person on earth. I admired her in every way. I absolutely would have loved to have met her. My heart is so broken for her loss.
  • Yes, I was surprised , though I was glad she had all of her loved ones around her , I had just watched a interview with her a few days before
  • Sell your stock in makeup now, before the prices drop! I didn't know anything about her, besides the fact that I couldn't hear her over her screaming makeup and her big hair.
  • Who cares?
  • She died of lung cancer, a horrible death I would not wish on anyone. However, I think she was a liar, a cheat and a media whore. Anyone with a modicum of decency or who wanted to die with dignity would not leave her deathbed to be on the Larry King Show. She said that she believed what Jerry Falwell said, "Hell is a real place for real people." I'm guessing that she's having a conversation down there with him right now.
  • I think Mary Kay cosmetics just lost 5% of it's sales volume. What an economic loss.
  • She was a great woman..
  • Uh. Is this the same woman who took money from poor people in the name of God so she could live in over the top luxury?
  • By the early 1980s the Bakkers had built Heritage USA (in Fort Mill, south of Charlotte), then the third most successful theme park in the US, and a satellite system to distribute their network 24 hours a day across the country. Contributions requested from viewers were estimated to exceed $1,000,000 a week, with proceeds to go to expanding the theme park and mission of PTL. Eventually, Jerry Falwell, with the backing of a $20,000,000 drive took control of the PTL. Between 1984 and 1987, the Bakkers received annual salaries of $200,000 each and Jim awarded himself over $4,000,000 in bonuses. Their assets at that time included a $600,000 house in Palm Springs, four condominiums in California, and a Rolls Royce[citation needed]. In their success, the Bakkers took conspicuous consumption to an unusual level for a non-profit organization. PTL once spent $100,000 for a private jet to fly the Bakkers' clothing across the country. It also once spent $100 for cinnamon rolls because the Bakkers wanted the smell of them in their hotel room[citation needed]. I do not judge; that's God's department.
  • I was totally shocked by her appearance on Larry King's show..and wondered why on earth she would do such a thing...be made up beyond reason and thirst for attention at this stage of her life...I shall never understand that need for attention that some people have at every stage, even the most sacred and private. So I am sad to hear of her passing, but I don't understand how she chose to spend her last few days on earth.
  • The fact that she married two con artists leads me to suspect that her TV persona was as phony as a televangelist or that she was dumb as dirt or both.
  • I live in the area she did. I met her once while I was working at Chick-fil-a. The co-worker standing beside me said, " I want to be on TV !" to which I replied, " No - you don't. It could wreck your life." Tammy looked at my co-worker and stated that, " He's right about that." I grew up in the house that was next to where the Bakers lived before they got famous. They were gone when we moved into that neighborhood.
  • Well, I think they did a major Disfavor to the general public putting her on TV before she croaked. I know three people have their kids into counseling after seeing her. Damn, a talking skeleton!! That was fricking GROSS!!!!!!!!
