  • Hinduism is NORMALLY described as polytheistic, In fact, there are far, far more than merely 300 Hindu deities that are worshiped in Hinduism. One index lists over 10,000! But note that Hinduism is very...flexible. In some schools of Hinduism, there is only one deity, and the "10,000+" deities worshiped are believed to be merely DIFFERENT ASPECTS of that one and only deity. There is even a trinity-LIKE school of thought in Hinduism, in which "the Trimurti" is believed to be three deities united as one. However: we should note that this is NOT the same as the Christian Trinity (which describes, not three deities, but one deity only), AND that the earliest writings describing it date to later than written Western descriptions of the Christian Trinity (though to be fair: SOME scholars estimate that those writings were originally authored BEFORE the earliest Western descriptions of Christian Trinity, and the later ones we know - these scholars claim - are copies of much earlier documents).
