  • I was blinded in one eye in a trucking accident in 1992. I've also been diagnosed with emphysema and heart failure. I don't call them "disabilities" - I call them "inconveniences". I'm in pretty good shape considering I've survived the latter two issues for 16 and 7 years respectively. I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and kidney failure but I beat those.

  • I'm not sure which disability won my case, but probably the depression for which I was hospitalized while they changed my medications when I was homeless. What I find most disabling is my degenerative joint disease in my back and ankles (I've broken both ankles and a metatarsal in the past.) I have heart issues for which I need medication that causes severe physical limitations during exercise because it prevents my heart from speeding up, but that's just a limitation. I have well controlled diabetes, and now they're saying my heart failure is better as well. Just found out yesterday my last chemotherapy is Aug. 5 for the breast cancer we beat, and I don't even have to take tamoxifen! Whoop Whoop!
