  • I think leaving convicts on Death Row makes no sense
  • I am English aged 76 old enough to remember when we had hanging, up to about 1968,and I supported executing those who were so evil with something like child killing or terrorists who may have killed or caused the terrible death of a huge number of innocent people. I hope my views on this subject may be very much like an American with such views,so I answer this question in that way.

  • It's unclear whether the death penalty is cheaper or more expensive than natural life. Most of the arguments that say it's more expensive site the cost of the appeals process, which I would like to think can be extended to people serving natural life as well (if not, this is certainly some sort of moral inconsistency). Frankly, the US penal system is not designed around rehabilitation in any way, which explains why the recidivism rate here is over 40%. You have to ask which is worse, killing a person or programming them to be habitual criminals through the torturous process of incarceration with violent individuals in close quarters, followed by release into a society that shuns them and offers them few rights and no opportunities afforded to regular non-convicted citizens. Unfortunately, since life is cheap here, I doubt this will change during my lifetime. Also, the process by which execution is done is over-the-top. Lethal injection or electric chair, either way it's much more expensive than how third world countries do it. The guillotine is still seen as barbaric, but, objectively, it was probably one of the best methods of execution. I say either bring that into practice here or else move on to abolition, especially if you think the guillotine is too barbaric (it's cheaper, faster, and less painful than the methods our CJ system uses today).

  • I always thought about it. It makes no sense. Have someone waiting 15 years than execute them. They should do it in a year.no special privileges.

  • Due process?
  • If a person has a 40 year sentence, then that would be fine for it, but there is far too many persons with 100 year sentences and more like that, it is just more convenient and money saving to kill the worst of the rabble rousers.
