  • Nope, Republicans can't win without Trump and Trump can't win without Republicans.

  • A lot of foreign nations (i.e. countries that are not the USA) have multi-party political systems that essentially boil down to the majority party versus the coalition of everything else. If the GOP fractures into two or three pieces, I can only see those pieces gluing themselves back together any time they want to get something done. It could be interesting though. I actually prefer a lot of the GOP's stances to the Democrat's policies, and I ultimately end up voting a mixed ticket every two years, but I don't see anyone standing there preaching small government and pro-life but also freedom of religion in public schools and being pro-let-anyone-get-married-because-it's-none-of-my-damned-business and getting those fat stacks of campaign funds. And that tells you everything right there. You can't get funds in the USA for your cause unless it gets a strong base of traction first, and you can't get much traction without getting a fair amount of funds first, so we're stuck with a two-party system, where you either want to steal all the damned money from rich people and give it to crackheads, or you want to shove protestant Christianity down everyone's throats, or you are some fringe whackadoodle who throws votes away at third parties who don't stand an ice cube's chance in hell at getting past the 10% threshold to obtain funds.
