  • Trees are an important part of God’s creation. They were used symbolically and literally in the Bible. There were the “tree of life” and “the tree of the knowledge of good and bad” in the garden of Eden, which had symbolical meaning (Gen 2:9). They were also used to symbolize individuals, rulers and kingdoms.
  • Man is often likened to a tree and his works are its fruits. Psalms 1 Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers. The wicked are not so, but are like chaff that the wind drives away. Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous; for the Lord knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish. Romans 11: 16-27 If the dough offered as firstfruits is holy, so is the whole lump, and if the root is holy, so are the branches. But if some of the branches were broken off, and you, although a wild olive shoot, were grafted in among the others and now share in the nourishing root of the olive tree, do not be arrogant toward the branches. If you are, remember it is not you who support the root, but the root that supports you. Then you will say, “Branches were broken off so that I might be grafted in.” That is true. They were broken off because of their unbelief, but you stand fast through faith. So do not become proud, but fear... Luke 6:43-45 “For no good tree bears bad fruit, nor again does a bad tree bear good fruit, for each tree is known by its own fruit. For figs are not gathered from thorn bushes, nor are grapes picked from a bramble bush. The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks. The tree of life produces fruit that gives life. Proverbs 11:30 The fruits of righteousness is a tree of life, and whomever captures souls is wise Proverbs 3:18 She (wisdom) is a tree of life to those who lay hold of her, those who hold her fast are called blessed. Rev 2:7 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who conquers I will grant to eat of the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.’ Matthew 12:33 Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or make the tree bad and its fruit bad; for the tree is known by its fruit. Rev 22:1-2 Then he showed me a river of the water of life, clear as crystal, coming from the throne of God and of the Lamb, in the middle of its street On either side of the river was the tree of life, bearing twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit every month; and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.
  • Christendom has a habit of making tree symbols ranging from Xmas trees, crucifixions, branch drawings and all sorts of idolatry and images. A tree is symbolic in the way how it represents the Christian branches to when Jesus cursed a fig tree that bore no fruit as many supposedly Christians do. The tree of life is not as important as "the book of life" which will determine in the end who the true Christians are. Revelation 3:5 "The one who conquers will be clothed thus in white garments, and I will never blot his name out of the book of life. I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels."
