Do you take the end piece or the middle piece?
You have unexpected company show up and spend the night. You get up to make a sandwich in the morning and you only have 5 pieces of bread left two of those are end pieces. Now your friend may want a sandwich for breakfast so do you take an end piece and a middle piece and leave the two other middle pieces for your friend, or do you take two middle pieces and leave them with the middle piece and the end piece?

I wouldn't presume to know if end pieces bother the other person. My younger sister loved those parts of the loaf. I do, however, know what I like. I prefer the middle pieces, so I'd make my sandwich as I'd like and what is left is what is left.

I'd use what I like and make my sammich how I want to. I prefer end of loaf
