  • 1-24-2017 I live in Arizona, where it's enough to know somebody who owns a vehicle.

That must cut down your costs quite a bit. Thanks

I only need to go to a grocery store a couple of times a year, so it is not a big deal to hire a cab. I could do that every week for what it costs to own a car.

Jewels Vern you comment is very interesting how do you manage to go to the store twice a year? Jan. 25

I buy groceries when they go on sale, and usually all they have, or at least enough to last a while. For instance, when milk goes on sale I buy ten gallons and freeze it. Eight years ago butter went down to a buck a pound so I bought a hundred pounds and froze it. I still have fifty pounds to use up. When soup goes on sale I buy a case. I bought a flour mill on craigslist and then bought 150 pounds of wheat at 17 bux per 50 pound bag. I have been doing this for ten years, spending about 70 bux a month, but since my mother died I spend 200 bux twice a year.
  • My husband has a car.

Well that's a good thing, and it sure beats packing 5 bags of groceries home on a bus. : )

We have local shops I can walk to when we run out of something. But we live about a mile and a half out of the city centre, it would take about an hour to walk. I do use the bus when my husband takes the car elsewhere, but I don't buy that many groceries at one time when I'm going by bus. Lol:)
  • Teleportation, duh....
