  • 3 layers in the winter, starting with microfiber fleece sheets ( I use them year round, they feel so nice on naked skin.). Then a thick duvet over the sheets and an old heavy patchwork quilt on top. That keeps me snug when I'm alone. When I have someone to snuggle with - the quilt is too warm and gets replaced with a much lighter afghan throw.

Thank you for answering. I once learned what a duvet cover was - saw it on Martha Stewart - but have forgotten. We have since mid November sheet (cotton), blanket, blanket, heavier quilt and when it gets super cold as I think it is supposed to in Eastern New England this week I put on a nightgown. Sometimes if really cold I throw a robe over the covers. I guess my husband adds to the warmth but snuggling for us is mostly of shorter duration and during sleep I always end up by myself.

I live at least several hours north of you (Canada) and I know what you mean by "super cold". A duvet is like a thick (fluffy) fiber filled bedspread. Quite warm in it's self. I use to do the very heavy blanket, blanket, quilt before i got the duvet. The duvet is very light and very warm.

By the way - Sorry, I forgot to mention you are one of the people I've selected to follow. I hope you don't mind.

Thank you - yes I thought you might be! I'm pretty good with the cold but when it gets down to 22 f. or lower I think of that as "super cold". Esp with wind. Which it does here a lot though obviously I live in a generally warmer area than you. Few times a winter it might get below 0 F.
