  • You could be cryogenically frozen, be buried at sea, or my personal favorite, be shot into space.
  • Well, if you don't count that they cremate you first - you can become a diamond! Check out: http://www.lifegem.com/
  • I suppose that if you knew the end was near, or wanted to end your own life in a different way, you could go to some remote spot on the planet and die. Your body might not be found for decades. The Australian movie, "The Earthling" covers this very point. An old man (played by William Holden) is on his last legs and treks to his favourite mountains to die in peace.
  • In Tibet there is "sky burial" where you are chopped into pieces after death and left on a high plinth to be consumed by vultures !
  • There's also promession which was developed in Sweden. The body and coffin is frozen to -18c and then dipped in liquid nitrogen at -196c. This makes it extremely brittle and is then literally shaken into powder on a vibrating pad. This is usually put into a small, biodegradable box which can be buried and eventually absorbed into the earth. The main advantage of this is that the body can be quickly reduced to particles, but unlike cremation there are no poisonous fumes (such as mercury) released into the atmosphere.
  • Human taxidermy is the way to go! Get stuffed with a voice box, and terrify relatives for years! Thats what I'm gonna do...

  • Of the three "burial" methods you mentioned I opt for donating the body to science. There are many companies that do this and the one I used made it super simple and economical, not to mention sustainable. They have to be called right away after the death and they were there within about an hour. They handle the details of the death certificate and there is zero cost. FYI: in case you are curious, it is against the law to sell entire bodies.
