I believe that restroom is the most correct term to use in public but since there is a shower stall in my home, bathroom is the most appropriate term to use. Words like toilet, crapper are funny but vulgar to use.

-
In my home it's the bathroom. In public it's the rest room. When I worked I sometimes said I had to go "see a man about a horse". But, in more moden times I changed that to "I have to see a man about a used car." All staff knew what I meant. I'm from the midwest in the US

I say both restroom and bathroom: "Where are the restrooms located?" and "I need to go to the bathroom." I was born and raised in Texas and still here, haha. :) :P
-
Loo, lavatory or toilet. Bog if I am in coarse company. Bathroom annoys me because often there isn't a bath there, so it is simply wrong. Restroom annoys me because I wouldn't want actually to rest there. Washroom doesn't annoy me, though it is as much a euphemism as the others - as are my preferred words. The only non-euphemistic words I know are crapper and jakes. From southern UK.
-
As a Canadian, I prefer to say, "toilet" ...

My family always called it the bathroom. I was raised in New Jersey. I have been calling it 'the gents' since I visited London in 1996.
