  • Of course.
  • It probably doesn't make a lot of parents proud.
  • I would say so yes.
  • Definitely. Anything that treats a human being as meat is demeaning.
  • Yes, it's two sides of the same coin.
  • I wouldn't watch it obviously but I suppose gay men are more open about these types of things and it would not be demeaning to them. I suppose pornography treats women as mindless sex objects so I agree it is demeaning to them.
  • I don't care for pornography period - I say yes
  • I think pornography is demeaning period... be it regular, gay, child... all of it is demeaning to mankind.
  • Porno is disgusting and it should be completely banished, all of it, straight porn, gay porn.
  • Yes it is demeaning to women, men, and anyone who watches or looks at it.
  • Of course.
  • All porn is demeaning and damaging doesn't matter who you are or what kind it is or if you're the one being used or the one doing the using.
  • All porn is demeaning and damaging doesn't matter who you are or what kind it is or if you're the one being used or the one doing the using.
  • Wow, look at all of the replies that think porn is something awful! No, not all porn, gay or straight, is demeaning. It depends on the porn. There is nothing wrong with porn that depicts happy, healthy, consenting adults engaging in sexual activities. Porn does not always objectify- sexuality is a part of all of us. Depicting sexuality does not have to be at the exclusion of depicting a whole character. And I find our nations attitude toward pornography to be hypocritical- we condemn porn, yet we use sex to sell cars and other products, and fill every TV show and movie with scantly clad people. Ever watch a daytime soap opera? Or a nighttime drama? It makes no sense why it is considered obscene to show two people having sex, but it's just fine to have films where people slaughter each other and eat their corpses. Violence is demeaning and damaging, not sex. On Gay vs Straight: I would think there would be a bit more objectification in straight porn than gay porn, simply because straight porn deals with two kinds of people. It's men looking at people completely different from them, namely women. Having two sexes can lend itself to two stratifications in how people are viewed. In gay porn, everyone is male, so there are no two separate categories with one objectifying the other.
  • I'm a girl. I have an extensive collection of porn, both hentai and live-action. I enjoy watching it. Hell, if I didn't think my dad would eventually get ahold of it, I might be interested in being in one. Porn is only demeaning if the actors find it so, in which case there's probably a legal case to be made against the director/distributor. I definitely feel that illegal acts have ABSOLUTELY NO BUSINESS in porn (children, animals, what have you). Strange opinions for a female, I know, but there it is.
  • no. porn is not demeaning. If a girl or guy wants to pose for a picture and someone else wants to look at it, there should not be anything wrong with that.
  • Pornography is simply a way of making money by selling sex performed by those who are desperate and bought by those who are a different sort of desperate.
  • Most of the movie gay or gangbangs, none of the participants are drug free. i think to do what they do.
  • NO! Those who are stars or participating in pornography are doing what they want to do in their lives with their jobs or work just like anyone else that works. Many go home to their families just like you do. Acting in pornography is demanding and very hard work to accomplish and obtain the required camera angles for the scene. The male has to make things happen on cue (if you know what I mean) There are often 15 or 20 people behind the scene such as camera people, sound people, directors and all the other people required to produce a film, and even the still shots. Pornography is no different than any other acting it just involves more explicit sex. It is acting nothing else and shouldn't be looked at any differently than any other acting.
  • No, gay porn is not nearly as demeaning to men because despite the great strides women have made in terms of liberation: it is still essentially a man's world; and men genrally hold positions of authority and therefore are inherently free from persecution. Many men especially those from Latino and Middle Eastern cultures believe men have the right to dominate and control women; Lations are very patriarchial and think women are weaker in every sense and need protection. At first, their attention and politeness seems great; however, it later turns to dominance. Even a migrant making $5/hour thinks he can dominate a female executive making $500,000 a year; these men sometimes get sexual harassment charges in some matriarchial work environments. However, it will take a long time for men from third world cultures like Mexico to learn to respect women. Violence against women is extremely high in Latino and other foreign minority cultures. Women still have a very long way to go; and I would advise young women to become feminists; and adopt the methods that Blacks used to become equal; older women already know how important this fight is.
  • I'm not into porn (anymore) but I don't think it is in anyway. Someone wants to be photographed or videotaped naked or having sex, let them. Someone wants to watch it, let them.
  • I certainly don't think that porn is demeaning to women or men! We are all sexual creatures and our sexuality is at the core of how we and society see ourselves. Porn does of course 'objectify' men and women--that is, it presents them only as objects for sexual gratification. But I don't see that there is anything inherently wrong with that. Perhaps people who use porn are doing so because it is a much more convenient means of sexual gratification than finding a 'real' partner. Or perhaps for medical, social or other reasons finding a real partner to engage in sexual acts is not an option. Here I am of course only referring to porn depicting consensual adults. Child porn is sick and a different matter entirely. Porn can become addictive--just as powerfully as alcohol or drugs. And just as in the case of alcohol abuse, porn 'abuse' can cause terrible damage to relationships, especially if a man or woman uses it to the exclusion of his or her partner. As with any other addictive behavior, people who are consumed by porn need help. If porn is not for you, don't use it! I've known many successful, decent people--men and women, straight, bi- and gay--- who enjoy watching porn now and again. Among the people you know in your day to day life, you have no concept of their sexual interests, but I can assure you that they are rich and varied. I've worked as a stripper and once gave massages at a famous golf club. I can tell you that I've seen all types sitting out there in the audience throwing dollar bills my way. And I know very well that 'all' of them would have been happy to take me out to the back room for sex if I were available to them, which I was not. These were perfectly normal men--nice guys with wives, children and jobs. And at the golf club, you'd be amazed by the number of men who asked for "happy endings." Probably as many as one in five, or even more.
  • Yeah sure. Porn is demeaning to everyone involved in it anyway. In MY opinion..
  • No. Because no one can define pornography. Barbara Cartland once stated that Romance Novels "Are Soft core porn for horny housewives". Should we ban romance novels too? All too often you see folks demanding an end to that which they like too much themselves. they want a ban so that they can avoid temptation. We humans find other ways to demean folks, by discrimination and denial of inherent human rights. Porn isn't one of these ways. Those who say it does, cannot state why or how without descending into hyperbole.
  • In my opinion, no. I don't consider all porn demeaning, but it is a fact that in a lot of porno films, women are portrayed as submissive and lustful. It suggests that it's ok to force women into having sex, or to hit them in the middle of it, because the women in the films enjoy these things. There are people in the world who will assume that all women enjoy it. In gay porn some men are also portrayed as submissive and masochistic, but people don't make assumptions about men from watching it, because for every submissive male in gay porn, there is an aggressive male. There is no such balance in a lot of straight porn, so the only presentation of women that we see is weak. So yeah, it is demeaning. More than that, it's dangerous- putting forward an idea that women like to be raped. It's not just normal, balanced people who watch porn.
  • No, its just nasty!
  • I think all porn is demeaning regardless of gender.
  • I will never watch two men have gay sex. Sorry for not answering question.
