The prices seem to keep going up. Currently there is only my husband and I and 4 cats (baby is on the way). We already are spending a minimum of $500 a month on groceries. Since becoming pregnant, I have been much more health conscious; eating a lot more fruit and vegetables which has definitely caused a part of the increase. I can't believe how expensive it is to eat healthy (little wonder that obesity is on the rise). I am trying to convince my husband we need to buy a freezer so that we can buy in bulk and also so that we can freeze items like bread because honestly we do end up wasting some food as it goes bad before we can eat it all.

I just looked at my credit card bill and it appears to be about $150 on groceries. Back in college I swear I went on about $70/month, and I almost never ate out (no meal plan either since I didn't live in dorms). I tried to eat no more than $2-3 worth of food in a day. Maybe a hot pocket for lunch and a can of progresso for dinner. Oh yeah and a lot of "cheap-ass tuna noodle casserole", which is basically a box of mac and cheese, a can of tuna, and a can of cream of celery soup baked together. About 2 days worth of food for roughly $1.50, but way high in sodium. Fortunately those days are over for now.
