  • Black cars are in a category all their own. I had a black 68 Corvette, that I just couldn't get a good swirl free shine on. I stopped on a hunt for a new product, at a fiber glass suppy company. I figured that hey, a vette's fiberglass, lets see what they've got. I bought a can of " Oscars Blue Boat Wax" for about 15 bucks. It worked so well, I've used it on all my cars, my boat, and many of my friends cars. It's a soft blue colored paste wax in a can, and it should last you for quite a few years. It's billed as 70% pure carnauba wax, and it definitely leaves almost no residue. Make sure you wash and dry your car first, and most importantly, wax your car in a garage or under cover, so it's in the shade, and the body is cool to the touch. Do a 2ft by 2 ft section at a time, and use cheesecloth or terry towel for polishing. Hope this helps. Michael

  • Actually wax on black is no longer the best answer. With the advent of Acrylic paints wax has become an obsolete choice to use on modern automotive paint. An acrylic paint conditioner is without doubt the absolute best choice for not only black but all automotive acrylic paints. Why? There are numerous differences between common wax and a modern acrylic paint conditioner. Just as there differences between enamel and acrylic paint. Acrylic paint has a shine achieved by a baking process that leaves a glass like shine on it. The shine is not so much within the paint as on the surface of the paint. Beneath that surface a dull interior. Unlike enamel wax of the past where the shine could be "buffed out" An acrylic painted surface needs to be preserved. Polishing will destroy the factory finish on acrylic paint. Wax will cover, dull, yellow, scratch, and swirl up a finish. No other color shows the ill effects of outdated wax on acrylic paint better than black. The normal application and buffing required of wax damages the finish on modern acrylic paint. Black will show every defect and every piece of wax residue left on your car. An acrylic paint conditioner is a rust resistant non abrasive pure liquid spray on formula that enhances the natural color and shine of the paint while protecting it from natural oxidation. It applies in about 10 minutes lasts over a month and leaves a mirror like shine. There is no residue and no waste. There is nothing on the market that works better on black automotive acrylic paint than an acrylic paint conditioner. http://www.ibc34.com/VaporWax.html
