The Nissan Company is based in Tokyo, Japan. In the early 1980s Nissan opened its first United States plant in Smyrna, Tennessee. Another assembly plant followed shortly thereafter in Canton, Mississippi, and there is an engine plant in Decherd, Tennessee.
