  • I wish I had an answer for you. I have been on a laxative break for several months now and it has been very uncomfortable at times dealing with the constipation. Pretty soon I plan on going back to the Miralax powder.
  • Rather than using laxatives use something daily like Metamucil. Also be sure you are eating plenty of vegetables and fruit and drinking enough liquids each day.
  • Change your diet. Stop eating bread, except for whole-wheat. Stop eating so many soft foods and start eating foods with lots of fiber. Drink more water and less soda. Take two Omega 3 Fish Oil capsules daily. That should do it. If not, you need to see your physician.
  • Some medical conditions cause chronic constipation, like megacolon or gastroparesis. Some medications constipate, like muscle relaxers and opiates. Some people, like me (gastroparesis) require laxatives to poop... period... and are prescribed daily laxatives, sometimes hefty doses. Go to your Dr and be checked. You might be sent to a gastroenterologist. If you're that stopped up, there's a reason.
