You're listing events that happened decades to over 100 years ago, and trying to compare them to current partisan attacks on the President. Sorry, this just doesn't fly. Yes, I believe there are some racist Republicans at present. I believe there are some racist Democrats, Greens, Socialists, and Independents as well. Refusing to admit that such people exist within a particular party is very short-sighted. It has often been noted by historians that the Republican party of old is very much like the Democratic party of today - more rooted in working for social justice than enriching the already rich.

Racists will always be around. Anyone who thinks they won't is living in a dream world. I think though that you know the answer to your own question already. As a party Republicans are the ones who really want equality among ALL Americans. The real question is why no one in the media calls the democrats out on their racism. Or their total hatred for anyone different from them. Be it physically or ideologically. Not all of them but em mass. They claim to help poor minorities then design a welfare system to trap them. They lie to they're faces by pointing their finger to the Republicans and blaming them for minorities problems. I just watched MSNBC (liberal T.V.) the other day totally stirring up racial tension where none existed. That pissed me off. I will shut up now. Good question.

The Republicans of today are far different from the Republicans of the past. Way back in history, Republicans actually had values and worked to find solutions. Back then Republicans were for equality, favored the middle class, were against mega corporations, and saw the relationship between the Govt. and Corporations as "unholy". This is a complete reversal of today's Republicans/Conservatives. The Republicans of today are victims of the Southern Strategy and are rapidly becoming a cult. They are no longer a political party with an actual platform. Today's Republicans/Conservatives are Corporate Whores, they seek to rape the middle class, they spread hate propaganda through the media, and they pervert Christianity. Republican leaders actually tell their flock that they talk to god. So to answer your question, yes Republicans/Conservatives are just as racist if not more than what the left would have you believe...
