THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO BE PART OF AN ONGOING COMMENT THREAD - I GOOFED - DARN!! THIS IS NOT AN ANSWER !! SORRY! IT WILL MAKE NO SENSE AND INCLUDES PLOT SPOILERS TO A MOVIE! DO NOT READ :)Mom deciding to stop car. Were your "screams" of frustration based upon those arguments about how people in horror movies behave irrationally ? Or, if being chased, someone always falls down? Or were you just frustrated in general, going along with the suspense of the movie? For me, all of those scenes worked OK to me - - though I'm not the most rational at times! Ha! I guess in hindsight, I thought the boy did what a boy might do in that situation - - go for help to the neighbors ( who are dead ). By the time he got caught, yes, I think his hiding place wasn't so great -- I can't remember for sure - I don't watch this movie very much! I remember thinking few movies kill off a young character -- especially one of the main characters. Haneke plays games with us constantly, throwing all rulebooks out. Like Hitchcock on speed! Ha! And watching this film with all the different language dynamics you mentioned is cool. With your writing style, I can see how this film would intrigue you. And I do think Haneke's other films might also. Fun talk about a strange flick :) Thanks for the photo link, too!

I love Silence of the Lambs, or Red Dragon. The line in Red Dragon, 'Do you see' just creeps me out everytime
-
Manhunter (the original one from the 1980s, not the later "Red Dragon" one).

I really like Scream. Total classic, I don't care what anyone else says.
