When I worked in a grocery store, I sold mostly Ramen noodles, Kraft dinner, sandwich stuff, hot dogs, frozen pizzas/meals and soda to college students. On occasion, there would be a student who bought fruit but that was rare.

At Ole Miss (my college) Ramen noodles, frozen pizzas, and Hamburger Helpers...At Mississippi State they eat dirt, and discharge though, so I guess it varies.

Actually cold cuts, bread, roman noodles & soups are popular as they are the cheapest things to get. Oh yes, sometimes parents throw in food too in care packages like cookies, pizza money & believe it or not even bulk purchases of army rations. I've seen them off the truck - some of them are gross looking.

In the UK - we are known for eating beans on toast... but when I was at uni we also ate a lot of curry.
