To have a child die in any manner. It happened to my in-laws, my sister-in-law died of leukemia in her twenties, and it staggered the family for several years.

Losing a child, no matter what the age is the biggest nightmare for any parent. When you lose a parent or a sibling , yes it is painful, but when you lose your own child, it is like an act against nature. So much more pain. Its like a part of you is empty and cannot be refilled. You live it the rest of your life.

Someone kidnapping your child and murdering them. In this day and time it could happen in a heart beat.

I think worse than having a child die would be losing a child, having a child kidnapped, etc and not knowing where they are or if they are dead or alive, etc. The horror of the unknown would be awful. That is one thing I pray about every night, that my kids will be safe !

I'm a parent and though the first thing that came to my mind was having my child(ren) raped and murdered... I think it would have to be having my child(ren) kidnapped and never seeing them again...never knowing..

The loss of their child.

The death of a son or daughter. My younger sister just died 3 1/2 months ago. It hurts me but I know it hurts my mom more.

Some one taking my daughter or taking her life. I love her more then anything in this world. I would kill any one who ever tried to even take my daughter.

I wouldn't be able to speak for every parent. I would imagine that it would be the loss of their child due to their own neglect or inattention.
