  • Farrah Fawcett never won any Grammy's.
  • Farrah was an American Icon, Micheal was an International Icon.
  • Michael was more popular.
  • He was more contraversial
  • I'm only vaguely aware of the name Farrah Fawcett, but just about everyone knows of Michael Jackson and some of his greatest songs.
  • Could be a comment on American culture..or lack thereof.
  • because farrah had been sick for a while, and everyone was expecting that she could pass away at any moment. michael jackson's death was completely unexpected
  • I was wondering that too...hmmm
  • Michael had a much more successful career. Farrah was not even a fraction to acting what Michael was to music. MJ is arguably one of the top 5 musical acts of all time. Farrah was not even in the top 10 actresses in her prime.
  • Michael Jackson was an International Superstar. Farah was predominantly a US TV star.
  • farrah was an icon back in the day, michael is a current media circus
  • Michael Jackson was an icon known in every corner of the globe, there isn't and may never be another more famous and adored celebrity as he was in the future while the same can't be said for Farrah Fawcett. However I think she deserves more media attention than she's been accorded. She was wonderful in her own right.
  • 1) Farrah died this morning. We knew she was dying. They did some stories on her early (not specials), and had done stories on her, recently. They had prepped for the big stories on her tonight, but Michael was rushed to the hospital, and died. Farrah, while well-loved in the US, was a TV star, and again, we KNEW she was dying, the only part we didn't know was WHEN, but knew it was near. While Farrah's shows and movies were great, they may not have translated well, overseas. 2) Michael Jackson is an international superstar. No one was expecting anything like his DEATH. He was prepping for a huge comeback tour to sold-out shows. He sang, danced, wrote most of his own songs, and part of his tour was to be a reunion. (I missed who with - His brothers? Some of the singers, like Sheryl Crow who used to sing backup with him?) His death was a COMPLETE surprise to EVERYONE. He is ALSO a much more controversial character than Farrah. And, as hated as he was by many, he was LOVED by his fans. "Music is the universal language". I believe he MADE MTV back in the day. EVERYONE wanted to moonwalk. Everyone liked his songs. Of course, both deaths kicked Ed McMahon's, yesterday, off the front page, as his kicked David Carridine's off. Music fans are much more vocal, and there were CROWDS that formed all over to keep up with the news, pray, and show support for MJ's family. These were images that translate. Farrah's death was much more quiet. They will both (all) be remembered and missed by those that liked them, AND by those who didn't really like them... Who are THEY gonna kick around now? RIP David, Ed, Farrah, and Michael.
  • Nine out of ten plastic surgeons recomended it.lol.I guess it was expected of farrah.I dont know about Jackson tho.Hope he made some confessions on his death bed.
  • ITS MICHAEL JACKSON THATS WHY! HES ONE OF THE MOST INFLUENTAL PEOPLE OF ALL TIME!!!!!!!!1
  • Because she lived her life with dignity and his was a media circus - the media are hardly going to let the biggest and possibly last MJ story go(we still have the funeral circus to endure) without selling a few papers.....
  • Come on man, let's be honest, there's not many places in the world you can go where they've not heard of Michael, whereas Farrah wasn't as well known. Plus the media have always loved Michael, he's gave them far more headlines than Farrah has, there's no reason that won't continue now that he's dead. More people will remember hearing the news about Michael, and where they were, than those that will remember about Farrah. No disrespect to the deceased is intended, I'm just being realistic.
  • jackson is more well known. simple
  • Michael sold more albums than did Farrah or Ed. +5
  • It is because Michael Jackson has been all over the news ever since he was young, and hes a legend. He has "different" music, but I personally love his music. And honestly, Michael Jackson was not a bad guy so idk why people hated him so much. But yeah I think it is because Michael Jackson is more known, and has been on the news more often
  • Michael Jackson's death was unexpected. Farrah Fawcett had terminal cancer for several years so her death was not unexpected. Ed McMahon was really old and his death was not unexpected.
  • There's very little salacious gossip about Farrah and Ed, aside from Ed's recent finanical problems. The public loves to live other people's problems vicariously, and the sleazy media love to dig it up and make their fortunes by exploiting it.
  • compared to M.J. the other 2 were B grade celeb's and really did nothing to change the world in their chosen field.. 1 was a good looking air head and the other was a T.V. co host/side kick, both were only really stars in the U.S. ... M.J. was a mega star around the world
  • I think it is because outside of North America perhaps, no one really knows who Farrah and Ed were. Sad, but true. Further, neither Farrah nor Ed were considered consummate artists. Love MJ or hate him, he did inspire many in music.
  • Same reason that there were Freak Shows at the circus in the old days. You don't see that much anymore. Perhaps television has made freak show irrelevant.
  • See my answer at http://www.answerbag.com/a_view/6921615
  • He was Black, Farrah and ED were not.
  • I don't know but it pisses me off
  • I agree - I totally am upset that Michael Jackson overshadowed the death of Farrah Fawcett
  • ...cuz Farrah and Ed couldn't "moonwalk?"
  • Lets see...Michael Jackson created the moonwalk,he was a GREAT dancer,he came out with GREAT songs,he had 13 or 14 number one songs,he won 197 awards combined in his lifetime,he started out when he was 6 years old...and Farrah was on Charlies Angels for ONE season and was in a couple movies that were not BIG besides "The Burning Bed" and Ed McMahon was on the tonight show and star search....thats my answer to that....RIP MJ!!!
  • Who is Ed McMahon? And what about Billy Mays!? I heard lots of talk(albeit, not as much as Michael Jackson) about Farrah Fawcett.
