  • I have been flagged so often I just stopped worry about it. I have had 20 reinstated two of them twice. I figured nothing is going to change it so might as well just let it flow like water off a ducks back.
  • It isnt the flaggers that make me mad it is the moderators who except them, when they are completely two different questions.
  • I do. And despite the pathetically overzealous moderators, the AB staff can be great about responding to feedback.
  • It would be nice, Terry. There is so much wrong with AB that frankly, I've given up. The moderators do a half-assed job, at best. +6
  • Well, in all honesty terry, I DO get frustrated once in a while. But the real key to this is to understand what you CAN do about it as well as your limitations. And then you need to realize that you CAN'T win EVERY fight. So you have to be selective in your battles. There are means to use concerning flagging: feedback, email to AB admin, and CL's. (CL's can sometimes intercede on your behalf through their contacts.) And finally you need to put it into perspective: NOTHING about AB affects your real life: it doesn't affect your income, it doesn't affect your ability to keep yourself and your family fed, it doesn't pay your bills... All that can happen in adverse terms is produce a level of frustration over whatever issues bother you. And that's IT. How it affects you beyond that is totally up to you. If something of yours is flagged inappropriately, then NONE of the rest of us will EVER think less of you. We know better. And if it IS appropriately flagged, very likely we all will just let it slide anyway, figureing it's just one of those things. No worries. Besides, unless we happen to stumble across something that shows us anything was flagged, likely nobody will know anyway. So, defend your post as you see fit through the channels provided. Sometimes you get results (I have). Sometimes you don't (Again, same here). And then drop it and move one. I, for one, will not think any less of you simply because some of your material is flagged. Only YOUR behavior affects that. :):)
  • I think you should be able to defend all flags, even the incorrect category ones. I once asked a question concerning nuclear power, it was re-categorized as 'Nuclear Weapons'. Makes no sense. But if we had the ability to defend all flags, AB would need to hire a million COMPETENT moderators and many ABers would be spending too much time defending themselves instead of enjoying AB.
