  • It makes him the same as every other politician, so I don't think anything.
  • It shows that at least he can read which is more than I can say for his predecessor.
  • every politicians uses them. imagine trying to memorize a massive speech and delivering it to millions. Obama is human too don't forget that.
  • They have used for years by various presidents. If i had that much on my mind, i would use a teleprompter, too.
  • He's the same as every other politician, who also use them. You just don't see the prompters on camera.
  • Ok, come on out with it! What's the conspiracy theory behind that now?
  • I'm glad he's not spending his time memorizing speeches. He has more important things to be concerned with.
  • I'd rather be inspired by Obama reading off a teleprompter, then getting angered by Bush mangling the English language by trying to read out of his notebook...
  • I forget my own lyrics unless I write them out by hand multiple times. If I could plug my blackberry into the laptop running the teleprompters and display the version of the speech that I just finished thumbing into it while in the limo on the way to the function, I'd do it too.
  • I don't have any thoughts, it's a normal practice.
  • I don't know his thought process, but I will tell you why I would do the same thing. I love words. They are powerful, dynamic, informative, and each one means something specific. I respect words and choose them carefully when I am on AB and in my daily life. If one word (a high-falutin' fancy dancy word) will describe what I want to convey much better than several ordinary words, it is that specific unique word I choose to use for that unique, specific thought. While there are similar words that would suffice, "sufficing" isn't enough for me. I want each word to be right on target. Perhaps President Obama feels the same way. I don't know. But it makes me appreciate him more because of the care he takes to use words specifically suited to convey his thoughts. :)
  • Teleprompters are a normal practice, whether it's politicians, or people on live TV shows and news...they all use them.
  • Most can say anything they choose.I have read here than is common practice,or every politician uses them. That might be the case.I do think though and it might be a matter of debate. If your speaking in public,at some point in time shouldnt that speech flow from you?...Be your honest opinions and feelings?..Teleprompters I am sure are fine when one doesnt commit said speech to memory. While is a good thing to have.If you dont really know your own speech at all and just read what comes across a screen, couldnt anything damaging just be fed into the teleprompter and read?..Is My opinion. That doesnt make it right or wrong.Just Mine.
  • I saw him speak in Bristow without one. It was embarrassing. He needs the crutch to be effective, and it looks okay on camera because they can edit the shots. Live appearances with a teleprompter can only be speeches and play well on tv, but not so well in person. There is no intimacy. I guess it's a trade-off, though. Personally, I think he'd be more effective using notecards. Now, I'll wait for the hypocrites to start downrating me for having an opinion that is contrary to theirs.
  • he was trained as a lawyer and is always very careful how he says things and how he phrases them. this is also why if you hear him talk without a teleprompter he uses a lot of um's and pauses
  • Bush used them and he still couldn't speak proper english! I don't mind if public figures use teleprompters.. It's the modern day equivalent of speeches written on paper.. Afterall public speaking isn't easy..
  • It really doesn't bother me if politicians use teleprompts, why wouldn't they after all. & at least it cuts down on the embarrassing blunders of his predecessor.
  • My thoughts are not on whether or not he needs a teleprompter. I could care less. What concerns me is the direction he's taking our country. Right down the toilet! Only 50 days in office and already spent MORE than Bush did in 8 yrs. Now he wants more spending. Way to go voters. I really hope youre happy.
  • My thoughts are how could anyone expect him to memorize all of the speeches he has to give. That would be a ridiculous expectation.
  • I think he has damaged his brain and without it he couldn't function as a result of this he is controlled by the teleprompter and he is a droid for the programers.
  • I think does that stupid man really think we do not notice he is pending the hell out of money for private usages and parties.
  • everybody uses teleprompters. i really don't care.
  • maybe Bush should have thought of that
  • Better than stumbling and fumbling with words like GW Bush did.
  • I can not wait for the power to go out!
  • The teleprompter only shows an index of items he must mention, it is a memory aid and nothing else. The machine does not speak for him. • All partisanship aside –and that would be different-- I don't believe ANY president of the United States, the most powerful person in the world, should any longer run the risk of speaking publicly WITHOUT a teleprompter. Every word, every phrase and every thought, regardless of good intention, is open to examination...to be twisted and used against him and our Country for whatever purpose. A statement mis-spoken has the potential for setting off a major crises throughout the world. It’s an unfortunate fact of life these days, but I feel that it would be irresponsible for this, or any president, to speak without his beliefs being carefully scripted by skilled writers and delivered by means of teleprompter. Whether or not President Obama is, or is not, a great off-the-cuff orator is the least of my concerns. The same for President Bush.
  • That's a good thing. Better than sounding like a retard in front of everyone.
  • Telepromters are like text messages. Some people can say and express more in a text message, rather than live in person. Maybe, the same applies to President Obama. This is okay.
  • I have no problem with that. If dubya had used them perhaps he could have talked in complete sentences.
  • I think its a very good idea as its very hard to remember all you want to say. Some have it written down on paper others use a teleprompter.Didn't George Bush Jnr use a hidden radio device telling him what to say when he was president.
