  • It would probably help a bit if I knew what you're working on: If your working with something like a PIC, there are a lot of PIC programmers on the market. If you want to homebrew that, then you just use an RS 232 transciever chip wired into the processor, and a terminal client with a script. You can use a jumper to set the read / writee pin to the proper level for programming, and remove it when you're done. If you're building some sort of peripheral, it's pretty much the same formula, a RS 232 transciever wired into an I/O port on the processor, and some sort of driver to interpret the RS232 data on the PC. Really the hard part is the software. The hardware is very vcery easy, and you can find RS 232 transcievers on any parts catalogue.
