Okay, I'll show my age. A simple computer was an abacus. And yeah, I still remember how to use one. A more complex computer was a sliderule. And I sorta remember how to use them. Of course fingers and toes were always a popular option -- and readily available! (right at our fingertips, so to say :)

The TRS-80 from Radio Shack. It had membrane keyboard and you hooked it up to your TV.

Radio Shack TRS-80. Followed shortly by the first Mac.

I remember going to a large technical college on a YMCA field trip where they showed us this huge room full of racks with lights and switches that was a computer. They used a teletype interface on it and we were quite impressed!

This was a computer when i was a child... i still am a child. lol

Sinclair ZX Spectrum.
