  • I would dial 911 on my phone.. so that they can dispatch the fire dept right away. I would run over and see if I could get in to save someone but 911 first.. they are trained and could possibly help much faster than an untrained person like me.
  • use my cell that way I could do both at the same time.
  • Call 911, and try to help afterwards if I could. Some fires would just be to out of control.
  • go in and help worry about 911 later.....
  • go help, i did it once before had the fire out before the fire department arrived.
  • The fire department is much more proficient and equipped for putting out fires and helping people out of the house who may be stuck in it then I am, so it would be the sensible solution to call 911. Far be it for me to play the hero and not be much help or even getting myself hurt without calling those who are trained for this to begin with.
  • Its just like the CPR Training and Hydrogen Sulfide Training I have received. If someone else is there holler to them to call 911 and proceed to help. If not call first then help. No one needs another victim.
  • I would call 911 first. I am a Police dispatcher. It doesnt take long to call and let them know an address...It gets the professionals out there faster.
  • Someone else can call. I'd be running into the building looking for people.
  • Most people as earlier indicated in a post, first call 9-1-1. I call for backup before I do anything else, its pretty much drilled into our head. Then once the call is done you act accordingly, making sure you do not make matters worse and proceed with extreme caution. . There are times when the outcome is truly a blessing "reacting" to a situation of this nature...more times then not with a burning home, "reacting" on impulse is far more damaging then one could anticipate. Good question chick98
  • It would depend on the circumstances - if it were the start of a fire, I would run in and try to get people out. My husband is the hero type, he'd run into a burning inferno if he thought someone was in there, it would never dawn on him to call for help first. I'm not brave so I'd never run into an inferno - I'd call 911 and pray.
