  • I would say - nothing. Although, I was unemployed by choice for about 10 years (stay at home mom) and that was great. As for being unemployed NOT by choice...that would suck, especially now when you don't know if or when the next job might be availible.
  • 6 months of unemployment checks, baby!!!

  • The first few weeks, when you don't have to set the alarm to get up every morning, and you can go anywhere and do anything you please, and don't have to deal with the drama at your last job any more, is fun for awhile. But once your savings are gone, the bills are piling up, and the rent is due, it doesn't seem as if you'll ever recover.

Get up early, hit the pavement looking for jobs, doing interview after interview, drop more resumes and applications and the come home and research more jobs, hope someone calls back soon, hope it isn't that one crappy job you applied for as a "just in case nothing else comes through" job and then fret over money......not fun at all...the only thing worse than losing a crappy job is trying to find another one

  • When you've enuf 'cake', nearly everything. Of course, except feeling useful, able to give more than you take, likely harming future employment opportunities, drinkin' too much, doin' too much dope, havin' your little sister call you a 'loser', having no response when everyone asks, "What do you do?", etc., etc. Other than those, it's cool! ;-)
  • 1) Going to the unemployment office and giving the administrators 5 copies of your resume to apply for that $8 an hour job you saw being advertised. 2) Having an official reason to mooch off of your family and friends. "Hey, I went to the Unemployment Office today! I was productive!" 3) Filling out a short autobiography for unemployment benefits. Don't forget your dates of employment-that's a felony. 4) Telling people you don't have money to go out for drinks or a movie, and convincing them to come over your house to watch a movie instead. (Just as much fun)
  • If you were not living paycheck to paycheck and have a little something to fall back on...if you weren't that crazy about your previous job...then being unemployed gives you the time to look for something better-suited to you...time to investigate thoroughly various companies..check around, check them out. When you don't like your current job, but you're working 40 hours a week, it's really hard to take proper time to find another job. Sometimes you grab something in desperation and it ends up putting you in a worse situation than the one you left. Happy New Year and Happy Tuesday, h.j.! Mahalo!
