  • There are some very nice fixer-upper igloos available up in Alaska. No A/C, though.
  • The least expensive housing would the barracks provided to you by the military! Enlist now and be the first one on your block to come home in a box!
  • A tent. You can find them at Wal Mart for about 40/50 bucks
  • Maybe a van, a low end RV or something like that would be the cheapest way to go. You can get away with parking it in all kinds of places. If you want a structure with land, you will have to research the various markets to find the cheapest. You will probably have to look and find the poorest neighborhood in the poorest community to find the cheapest. You could look into a used trailer...depending on it's condition you could probably find one pretty cheap. But then you have to figure out where you are going to put it...buying property and puting in water, sewer and electric will increase your cost. You could always rent a pad but you don't want to rent. You could look into buy something for back taxes or that has been forclosed on. Also, you may want to rethink your approach on this...are you willing to make the sacrifices of living the cheapest way possible? Crime ridden neighborhood, rundown structure, away from friends and family...what are willing to give up to have the cheapest home you can find. You say nothing about the lifestyle you want other than "cheap".
