• Claying is relatively new to vehicle cleaning. It involves a poly clay, somewhat like silly putty, but made for this job. It is meant to remove contaminates from the paint such as overspray, rail dust, tree sap etc. It does this with no or very minor paint marring. You use a soap lubricant and rub lightly over the surface until the problem is gone. If it marr's the paint, usually a light polishing brings it back. It's purpose is to make the surface as smooth as possible before waxing. Next time you wash your car run your hand over the clean surface and feel how smooth it is .I bet even a brand new car has a little surface contamination.
