I have a younger sister. She was my remote control before they were invented.
-
No, I'm born in 1982 and the remote control has existed as long as I can remember.
-
Lol.. yep. Back in the day. Having to go through it channel by channel instead of just putting in a number. yeah. fun. ~+~
-
Yep,and i was my fathers remote control before that.
-
ah yes, it seems like only...last Week!! we lost the remote for 3 days...it was horrible!
-
Our first TV was a B&W RCA set. It had a dial that had to be turned with a clunk, clunk, clunk sound to change channels. It also had brightness and contrast knobs in addition to the volume/on-off switch. The dial had a outer wheel for fine tuning.
-
Yep we have three channels back then and the knobs were hard to turn and you had to adjust the TV antenna and what worse is you had to walk up hill each way to change the channel.
-
I not only remember that, I remember when TV was only black and white, there were only about two channels and many people turned the lights off in the TV room, as if you were at at movie. Long, long ago, so it seems.
-
They still had remotes - hey kid, change the channel.
-
Yes. I remember it well. We had 13 channels, because we had cable TV. Believe it or not, if we hadn't had cable, then we would have had only 1 channel.
-
I remember when you didn't have to get up to change channels because there was only one - BBC.
-
Yes, the good old days when channel surfing burned a couple of calories.
-
Oh yeah, we had three channels and the programmes were black and white. I sat in the chair nearest the tv so my mum or dad used to have me change the channels! The tv was also in a big wooden cabinet with doors that closed - my mum used to close it every night once the test card was finished!!! ahhhh, those were the days :)
-
Sure thing. I also remember what a big deal it was as the time that my mother allowed me to have a 13" B&W TV of my very own in my room...
-
Yup sure do...It was even worse when you had to go outside and climb up the house to turn the antenna.
-
Yes, and having to arrange the foil just right on the rabbit ears. There were only 4 channels so it wasn't such a big deal. :)
-
Oh yeah. We had 3 channels I think and rabbit ears and that TV took a beating. I think we used to beat it on the right side.
-
I still do, i lost my remote!
-
I am so glad I am not the only one who remembers 1 or 2 channels no color and no remote.
-
Oh, you remind me that I have to go buy the battery since I have to do it for the past few weeks XD
-
my grandma had one of those tv's and everyime we went over to her house, we had to sit on plastic covered couches and we weren't allowed to get up unless she asked us to change the channels from the 2 she had to pick from.
-
I stil do....the dog always eats the remote
-
Yes - I don't watch nearly as much TV now as I did when I was very young though
-
I read about it in my history books ;)
-
That was a very long time ago, as even when a child, our old black and white Packard Bell had a remote box with a speaker in it that we could drag to the couch and use that! lol!!! I think for a short period of time, maybe 2-3 years, we didn't have some kind of remote, but that was back in the late 60s.
-
I sure do, and I remember beating carpets over the clothesline, a washing machine with a mangle on top, and ice on windows in the winter.
-
Sure do, But there were only 4 channels anyways.
-
Yes, and we always had to use pliers because the darn knob was missing.
-
Yes I sure do. I'll even go one better. I can remember when my dad bought our first television. It was built down into a wooden console like the old hi fi and stereos where you had to lift up the top to play a record. You had to leave the top open so the screen could reflect off of the mirror built into the top. Great memories. :)
-
Sure, many years ago.
