because they're afraid of seeing someone else with even one foot ahead of them. whoever you're referring to, start avoiding them like the plague. people like that are toxic. find someone who encourages you and doesn't bring you down.

It's easier to tear other people down and make them look stupid than to work hard and make yourself look smart. People who do that are lazy and take the easy path. It takes less work bring others down than to better yourself.

You need to analyse what they are really getting mad about. Is it because there is too much showing off, or some other negative activity? A smart person will make every effort to help everyone around them.
