No. Why would America be #1? I totally disagree with the image of America being the capital of the world when all they do is abuse power.
-
depends on what were rating...I would say yes, for freedom and democracy...but is freedom such a great thing? I mean i fight for it...and i believe in it, but it does have its downfalls
-
No, I don't think so. It's getting to the point where they're starting to lose their superpower status (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Superpower and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Potential_superpowers). Not only that, but they say they're totally free and democratic and all that, but they've actually got a lot of restrictive laws that, say, Europe doesn't. Plus their government is totally corrupted. Of course, maybe that's just what I'm being told because I'm Canadian; maybe we get a different story.
-
That is subjective.
-
Politics aside, I think it's no. 1---to me. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. I love this country more than anything and I'm extremely grateful.
-
You'd better believe it! cos if you don't no one else will
-
It always used to be. But now we have substandard education, overpriced housing, uncompetitive products, Socialism, and a death wish! It is all very sad.
-
The people are. The government is the most corrupt organization on earth.
-
In a lot of respects America is Numero Uno.
-
No. I haven't been proud of my country since I was a child and didn't know any better.
-
No country is number one, and while it's natural for people to feel that their country is best of all, it is dangerous when they feel that their country has the responsibility for running the world.
-
If this is #1, we're all in trouble
-
It's all relative, B. To some nations, America is very much admired and loved. To others, it is resented and viewed as untrustworthy, greedy and blood/oil thirsty. Personally, America isn't #1 to me, because I love my own country more. I wouldn't hold anything against an American who thought their country was the best. Americans do tend to go overboard with the schmaltzy patriotism, though.
-
Probably in some quantifiable things. But that is just the type of attitude that is going to sour (maybe continue to sour) the rest of the world toward American people. Foreign policy that aims to dominate and subordinate simply isn't playing nice with the other nations!
-
In number of Americans!
-
Number 1 at what? Everything? They probably at number 1 at some things, but definitely not everything.
-
In general? I dunno. Not to me, it isn't :)
-
Actually I think we are in deep #2 right now.
-
no, Italy is;-)
-
In the minds of some or perhaps still many Americans it is but I think my heart is still in Canada, although I get the sense from some that even parts of Canada are prone to anti-gay fascism. There's always Holland and perhaps other parts of Europe.

At what
-
In my book it is, and to kind of steal a thought from Natasha Benningfield, "Lay your eyes on your book. No one else can read it for you, go ahead and take it in. No one else, no one else. This book's still being written."
-
Yes, at lots of things. Not all of them are good unfortunately.
