Does anyone know the neighborhood in Ridgewood, NY: Queens (Cornelia St close to Forest Ave train station)? How safe is the M train line? Is it true that the M train line does not run after 9pm on weekdays? Does the train run on weekends?

It is true. The "M" train is as safe as any other. It probably runs less frequently and closes up earlier on weekends. Where are you coming from? If coming from Manhattan, you can take the J over that way, or the L. They run all the time. To get exact schedule info, google the MTA website.
