How did Brooks Orpik of the Pittsburgh Penguins get the nickname "Free Candy"?

Apparently it started as a running gag on the pensblog. It seems a lot of penguins fans have the idea that Brooks looks like a child molester. One who would have the kind of van popular on chat sites that is pictured below.
