  • From the USA Volleyball Rule Book... -- CEILING HEIGHT The playing space is free from any obstructions to a height of 7 m (23') from the playing surface. PLAYING COURT The playing court measures 18 m x 9 m (59' x 29'6"). CENTER LINE The axis of the center line divides the court into two team courts measuring 9m x 9 m (29'6" x 29'6") each. LINES All lines on the court are 5 cm (2") wide. BOUNDARY LINES Boundary lines: Two sidelines and two end lines mark the playing court. All boundary lines are drawn inside the the dimensions of the playing court. ATTACK LINES Attack lines are drawn in each team court so that the edge of the attack line farthest from the center line is 3 m (9'10") from the axis of the center line. Extensions of the attack lines outside the court shall be marked with five 6" lines spaced 8" apart to a total length of 70" (for national competition). AREA AROUND THE COURT (FREE ZONE) The free zone surrounds the court with a recommended minimum width of 2 m (6'6"). NET HEIGHT The height of the net shall be 2.43 m (7’ 11 5/8”) for men and 2.24 m (7’ 4 1/8”) for women. The net height is measured from the center of the playing court with a measuring device. The two ends of the net (over the sidelines) must both be at the same height from the playing surface and must not exceed the official height by more than 2 cm (3/4"). The height of the net may vary for specific age groups. (see http://www.volleyball.org/rules/basic_rules.html ) -- *please note that these regulations are for INDOOR Volleyball only. • Indoor courts are the same size for the FIVB, USAV, CVBA and most sanctioning bodies - 18m x 9m (29'6" x 59'). Indoor courts also have an attack line that runs parallel and 3m (9'10") behind the center court line. Line widths are 5 cm (2") wide. Some beach courts are slightly larger measuring 30 feet by 60 feet. However, in 2001 FIVB and soon after the AVP shortened the doubles beach court to 16m x 8m. (copied from about.com) Now as far as the net goes, I didnt find anything on that except for it should be about 30' long, 8' high for men and 7'4 1/4" high for women. Hope that helps
  • So Awesome.. thanks so much for the info!
  • Rules 2.1 to 2.4 of the FIVB rules define the requirements for the net, including height, length and construction. The rules can be found here: http://www.fivb.org/EN/Volleyball/Rules/FIVB.2005.VB.RulesOfTheGame.Eng-Fre.pdf
