Although I prefer my fork, the spoon is clearly the best multi-tasker. If I were out in the woods, and could only have one, (assuming that the knife was a table knife and not good for anything other than eating) then I would want a spoon. I could eat soupy and solid foods. And when food is at a premium like in the woods, spoons catch and secure every last drip.

my plan is to weld together a spoon on top of a fork..and alas...A SPORK IS BORN! but seriously now, the food on the plate/bowl determines the utensil. some people need prefer garden shovels.

i'd say spoon because you can use it to eat almost anything by shovelling it onto your spoon but then forks are good too to poke into the food and pick it up that way and good for noodles, but even better....a Spork :D best of booth, though they should make them in metal and not plastic

If your trying to butter bread a knife is better.

If your having a bowl of spaghetti a fork is best.

If your digging your self a tunnel out prison, a spoon will probably be the best of all three...

I think, good luck with whatever you doing over there.

If I could only have one of the three main utensils, my answer would be a fork. because then you can stab food, such as meat/beef/chicken etc., or various greens! You can cook meat over a fire with a fork, if you had to. The fork's "stabbing" capability comes in handy if you want to bite your steak, chicken, pork etc. without having to put both hands on it. And it's hard to eat greens (salad greens, veggies, etc.) and other veggies like tomato wedges or slices with a spoon; you'd have to just eat them with your hands if that was all you had. For liquidy things such as soups or thin chili, even without a spoon you can just hold it to your lips and just drink the liquid out!! One more thing - I'd want a metal fork rather than a plastic one - that is even more important than what utensil it is!!
