Help answer this question below.

I have dated a few white women in the past and even though I liked them I did not like all of the attention (mostly negative) we received whenever we were out in public. How come interracial couples receive so much attention from others?

    Fact from fiction, truth from diction. There are all sorts of reasons. Some of the usual is if you are Black man with a white woman white men can see you as taking something they hold dear, their white women. They may also see her as “trading down” because for so long Blacks have not been seen equal to whites. Black women will be hating on you because picking outside your race will be like a referendum against them that they are not good enough for you to consider them. Plus the pool of so called “good Black men” is daftly small anyone lost to another race may make it harder for them to find one. Even some other Black men may hate on you because they feel you are trying to up yourself and show that you are something more than they because you want to have white and thus be closer to them than your own people. I get a double dose, race and age. But I have to live my life for my own happiness, and who I have makes me happy so we just ignore it as much as possible and sometimes camp it up to piss them off more

    I don't know. I am a white woman married to a native american man. And becuase he's "brown" people look at me like "What the hell is she doing with him?" I don't get it! We are so happy. Why can't people just look past the skin and see the smile on my face? I guess we'll never know that actual answer to your question. (sigh....)

    Because you choose to live in a place where clearly people are ridiculous. Im gay and if i had stayed in my home town i would have been acutely aware of my sexuality ever single day of my life, and that is too exhausting for anyone to cope with. I moved to london and dont think about it at all and dont hjave any problems with peoples judgements.

    Sometimes we have to make tough choices for our own well being. You can stay and fight the prejudice, or you can go where the prejudice is minimal. Its not fair cos you should live where you want. These people deserve your pity and your scorn...the 'be like us or your wrong' mentality makes me want to fight people. If your not careful it will streain your relationship. Do what you need to do to protect it

    people are messed up. ask a white girl about the heat they get from black women when they hang around black men. it's all jealousy. white men can't deal because they think they can't compete. i just like to see people who are having a good time.

    People are so stereotypical and narrow-minded these days.I say ignore them. If they can't adjust to the changing world we live in, plainly and simply, stuff 'em. Nothing wrong with interracial couples.

    In cities it's less likely to be a problem than in the country. Also depends on the nation, in Sydney no-one would care but don't try it in regional Queensland. If you're American, try moving to LA - I'm sure I read somewhere that there are more multiracial people there than anywhere else.
