Help answer this question below.
There are seven main factors behind an outbreak of facial or body acne.
1.Genetics. If your mum or dad had acne as a teenager, there's a good chance you will too.
2. Hormones. During adolescence, hormones called androgens become active and stimulate oil glands in your skin, increasing oil production. This, in turn, clogs pores, causing pimples and blackheads. Hormonal changes that occur during your period or when you start or stop taking birth control pills can also cause an acne flare-up. In some cases, however, certain birth control pills are prescribed as a treatment for acne.
3. Stress. Although stress doesn't actually cause acne, it will potentially aggravate this or any other skin condition you may have. Diet. Dermatologists aren't sure whether or not what we eat plays a critical role in acne. Some experts do believe, however, that food allergies can trigger acne outbreaks.
4. Washing your face too often. This can aggravate the skin, causing acne to occur.
5. Using greasy skin care products and oily cosmetics. Any product that clogs oil ducts may cause acne.
6. Medications. Acne can be a side effect of some drugs, including barbiturates, seizure medication and steroids.
Here are some common misconceptions:
Myth: Chocolate, pizza, peanuts and fried foods are bad because they make you break out. Truth: The latest research suggests that some people have acne outbreaks as a result of the foods they eat, while others don't. Feel free to enjoy your favourite foods in moderation.
Myth: Soaking up the sun, or sitting under a sunlamp, is helpful in clearing up acne. Truth: Exposure to the sun may dry up pimples, but it hardly seems worth it when you weigh up the cons: Sun exposure (especially burns) can cause skin cancer and lead to premature ageing.
Myth: Acne will go away by the time you reach the age of 30. Truth: Unfortunately, many adults suffer from acne well into, and beyond, their fifties.
Myth: Acne is caused by poor grooming. Truth: The presence of acne does not mean your face is dirty.
Myth: Abrasive cleansers are good for acne. Truth: Dermatologists actually find that harsh exfoliants usually aggravate acne.
not entirely, but it could contribute.
Yes, sugar can give acne within hours. Actually this depends on sensitivity, immunity and various reactivities of individual body.
NO!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's more a gene in the body!
Sugar does not give you pimples. Ofcourse when you feed yourself fruits and vegetables you are getting more vitamins and nutrients. Anyone eating fruits and vegetables should look healthy!
I don't know about sugar, but "Exposing the skin directly to greasy or oily substances, or to certain cosmetics " can contribute.
I read it in Mayo medical journal. which says such exposure is a risk factor for acne.
Anything with fat and grease will defintley give you acne. Hey don't get me wrong!
