  • Officially Scientology does not have an official belief about the afterlife. But the most disturbing fact for them is the dead no longer can be manipulated for more money, as it is the closest thing to a religion mafia the last century saw: Under Operation Snow White, “Scientology operatives committed infiltration, wiretapping, and theft of documents in government offices, most notably those of the U.S. Internal Revenue Service. Eleven highly-placed Church executives, including Mary Sue Hubbard (wife of founder L. Ron Hubbard and second in command of the organization), pled guilty or were convicted in federal court of obstructing justice, burglary of government offices, and theft of documents and government property. The case was United States vs. Mary Sue Hubbard et al., 493 F. Supp. 209 (D.D.C. 1979).” http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Snow_White Here is more on them: http://www.watchman.org/profile/sientpro.htm http://www.watchman.org/sci/historyofterror.htm http://www.apologeticsindex.org/cpoint7 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Scandal_of_Scientology http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Freakout http://www.amazon.com/L-Ron-Hubbard-Messiah-Madman/dp/0942637577/ref=cm_syf_dtl_top_3_rdssss0 http://www.xenu.net/ Instead, turn to Jesus who loved us and gave Himself for us, and saves those who truly repent and receive Him. • They don't really have any beliefs about death and the afterlife, since it's mostly masqueraded as being an alternative to religion and being compatable with other religious beliefs. However, you are believed to become a divine being once you reach the end of the bridge, which is probably about the time you have no money left....so maybe they just expect you to live forever as a god.
  • Scientology has strong and persistent references to past lives and a belief in a type of reincarnation. The best way I've seen it phrased is by Beliefnet: "Rebirths continue until one consciously confronts all pre-birth, current-life, and previous-life traumas and realizes one's true nature as a 'thetan,' immortal spirit--transcending matter, energy, space, and time. Achieving this state enables the spirit to escape the cycle of birth and death--to operate independently of the physical universe and become one with God." http://www.religionfacts.com/scientology/beliefs.htm http://www.religioustolerance.org/scientol1.htm http://faithinfocus.wordpress.com/2008/08/14/the-afterlife-for-scientologists/ http://www.beliefnet.com/story/80/story_8057_1.html
