The song is basically talking about being happy with what you got. Swing life away basically means take it easy. Dont worry about things to much. Its about going back to a simpler time. "We get by just fine here on minimum wage" Its about taking time to enjoy what you have and not worrying about bettering yourself to much if you can make due with what you have and you are happy with it. Great song by the way.
