  • I was just wondering the same thing today! I feel compared to magazine women, to models and actresses who spend hours and tons of money to get that look, to photoshopped, airbrushed photos of women on bikes etc. I am a healthy women with curves who could stand to lose 20 pounds and was just dumped because I was too big, yet I fit into a size 8 and sometimes size 6- I have made myself not eat until I fit into a size 3 and got lots of attention, but was too tired, and ill to have any fun, and quite frankly could not keep it up and the superficial attention went away. I think that there is way too much emphasis on the outside- my insides are really well put together and I wish that someone would take the time to get to know this part of me!
  • Some may. There is no perfect woman that would satisfy a man's physical taste without desiring another woman based on s totally different set of attractive standards. This is simply lust of the eyes, and why it is incondusive toward a long lasting love relationship. THe beauty inside a woman is really shown when she is willing to show a surrender to her man and she does not have to be a playboy model to win a GOOD mans' heart over.

  • I believe it goes both ways. I have to keep up with the other guys, cause if I can't I'm going to fall behind. I still dont have a girl friend and havn't had one since last two octobers.
  • YES MEN HAVE UNRELEALISTIC EXPECTATIONS! MEDIA DOESN'T HELP OR SHOULD I SAY PORN MAGAZINES! THEY DON'T SHOW THE DAMAGE THAT SHAVING TO THEIR PRIVATE PARTS DOES!
  • Yes, and women also have unrealistic expectations of what an attractive man is. I've heard of men dumping women because they don't look like magazine-models, but I've also heard of numerous cases of women dumping men because they don't look enough like Edward Cullen...
  • yes, thanks to the damn media. but both men and women do.
  • Yes, in many ways. First, we have been told what an attractive women is supposed to look like (blond, about 5'6", 125 lbs with long legs and large chest, blue eyes, etc---or something like that) and then, when we do meet an attractive woman we assume she has all the other qualities we would like in a woman. Very unrealistic. Been there, done that. I believe the same is true for women, however. Same issues. Far better to let these things work themselves out...simply look as you are, for both sexes, and when you meet someone, be yourself, not some fictional persona that you think might be attractive to the other person. After all, if you begin a relationship you want it to be based on what you are not on what you are trying to be. For both sexes.
  • well I don't think all men have an unrealistic expectation but I would say a good 90% of both men and women have a skewed idea of what is attractive or not merely because advertising has conditioned us to find the unrealistic appealing. Many people base their idea of what attractive is or what a relationship should or shouldn't be based on what they see on tv and advertising.
  • I dont know the stupid media has everyone brainwashed that you must be stick thin.
  • Some do, but they can just be ignored :) +5
  • Yes, and many women also have unrealistic expectation of what an attractive man is. I mean, how is a woman supposed to be THAT skinny AND have big boobs? Boobs are fat, people, and you won't grow any if you're skin and bones, unless you get fake ones. Same goes for men - not ALL are going to be super-buff Taylor Lautners. I am guilty of this as well, and I think we all are to some degree. However, I think the media comes down a little harder on women nowadays, probably because we're breaking old traditions, like being submissive housewives, which was desirable to men, so now we have to focus more on our looks to attract them. Watch the news sometime, and you'll see that they'll air older, average-looking men, but you hardly ever see average, middle-aged women - they're all pretty little young things. There's just such an image we all - men and women alike - have to fit into that it's becoming unrealistic and needlessly unhealthy.
  • Some do, yea
