  • is there a signed document? it should say how much in advance the notice must be given.
  • well with the lease you just need to ask them every place is different but they usually like about a week or two. Also try taling to the manager about what's going on and tell him/her your roomate asked you to leave so do you have to be responsible, and about your stuff I had this same problem with my last roomate and to this day I have never gotten any of it back. I called the cops the manager to the apt.'s nothing helped they said since his name was orginially on the lease theirs nothing I could do. If your name is ON the lease for sure though you can try to get a police escort to assist you in getting your stuff. GOOD LUCK I know how big of a pain it is dealing with that.
  • You may want to see how long you signed the lease for. If your stuff is locked out ,I would get a police escort to go there with ya .
  • There is no time frame when you can break a lease. Whether you give notice or not, you are still breaking the lease and liable for any damages that your landlord incurs as a result of your breach. If you are on a month-to-month tenancy you can move out with 30 days notice, but this is not breaking the lease. If your roommate asks you to leave you are still liable assuming that your roommate is not your landlord. If your roommate signed the lease and then you had an agreement with your roommate (not the landlord), then your roommate is subleasing to you. In this case your roommate would be breaching the lease by having you leave. If your stuff is locked out by your landlord, this is a violation of law and entitles you to statutory penalties. If it is locked out by your roommate and you are on the lease (or have a lease with your landlord), you can call the police and be escorted in. As long as you are under a lease you have the right to posession of the property.
