Got it...second guess Urban dictionary http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=alot
-
It isn't one word, but two "A" and "Lot"!!!
-
The same dictionary that defines 'unique' to mean 'unusual', 'fortuitous' to mean 'fortunate', 'discrete' to mean 'tactful', 'crescendo' to mean 'climax' and 'simplistic' to mean 'simple'.
-
"Da dictshunary uv e-bonnicks, yo :p" that is one of my pet peeves as well, "alot" is not a word, it is two separate words that have become adopted into a single word because people are too lazy to use proper grammar or a space.
-
a dead metaphor, dull when spelled correctly, worse when misspelled alot. Passable in conversation as a substitute for much or many, it is better ...
-
A stickler for detail, ere ya? ;-)
-
Yeah, yeah, I know, but I don't care as much as you do.
-
alot, a lot. same shit different pile.
-
Is that kind of like to and too?? I often make those mistakes:):) And I really need to know how to speak well. Ecspecially if I am going to be a(n) Language Arts teacher. I am or I'm not sure if I should of or should've capitilized Language Arts. Correct that..Please:):) It would be fun fartbag:):):)Or douchebag:):)LOL:)

I do know that. I write it as 'alot' if I feel it is a relaxed setting and I would rather type how I would say something. 'A lot' can make a sentence sound different from the way i would like to convey it.
-
A lot means "a lot": "A lot of pancakes." Note that this is an informal expression. Allot means "to divide" or "to give out": "They allotted six square feet per family."

Good one TheicidaManiac. This is what I found on your link --> alot 75 up, 67 down A word that actually DOES exist, and any idiot who claims otherwise is "retarded." Alot of Americans are brainless twits.
