Yes, of course. But if it will come to that.....

the government is focing $700 billion from the taxpayers- whether they're rich or poor. that's $2300 per person but of course, if we cut taxes for big corporations, those savings will "trickle down" to us- after all, it's not like a capitalist system would encourage corporations to keep every penny that they can for themselves!
-
The few Democrats among them would..but all the Republicans? The ones who love the tax cuts, expect more tax cuts and keep going on and on about big government, lazy welfare recipients? These people? Never happen..why do you think they love Palin? Why do you think they dislike Obama? Taxes. If Obama promised the wealthy a 5% tax rate, they'd jump hoops to vote for him..yes they would. It's all about money honey..they got theirs, they wanna keep it..they want more of it..they don't wanna share! :(

If you let people keep money that they earn and quit paying people not to work it will help the US economy.

Maybe they should but they wont. And its not 2300 a person its 7000.This country is going to hell in a big way.My g/f and i are actually thinking of moving to Austrailia.

Don't hold your breath yo...

Yes, lets soak the rich to the bone! Tax increases for all the wealthy with no chance of deferment or deductions! SOAK THE RICH!

I think we should tax the heck out of past and present Presidents, (starting with Clinton, when the original legislation that caused all this mess started) Congressmen and Senators from both parties that let this happen until they PAY US BACK! They ALL watched it happening and let it so they could keep their seats and political power. Doesn't it bother anyone else that what got us into this mess was the huge number of subprime loans that institutions were forced/coerced into providing AND that the bailout agreement wants an assurance that IF any eventual profit is made from this deal a portion has to go back to those same subprime loan applicants via the "community organizations", such as ACORN, that forced the loans to go through in the first place? WTF? Excuse my anger, but whenever ACORN comes up, I get furious. After college, I answered an employment advert to work as a community activist. It turned out to be for ACORN. I was one of those young adults they send out to get donations and signatures on petitions. When we were done for the day, the group leader sorted out all the cash from the checks and divided it up amongst us. THAT was our salary. Those people are DIRTY DIRTY DIRTY.

sure but ould it be enough to help? I dunno. The reality of it is that most of these multi-millionaires aren't patriotic, they don't think of this as home, they have 5 houses on 4 other continents, when things get bad here they just go live at the summer home in Spain or something. They are merely using the system and reaping the benefits as long as the system works for them, and when it doesn't they make alliances with a different place. While the poor and working class are stuck here, left to clean up the mess.
-
Sure. That would be a good thing. They wouldn't be multi-millionaires if they thought like that though.

I am fairly sure that most of the rich have their money invested already, and that is putting money back into the economy. the only way that money is not helping the economy is when it is NOT being spent. and rich people got that way buy investing wisely, their investments benifit society, and themselves. if you stop allown people to benifit from their own investments, then you take away their desire to invest, and then they will simply put money "into their mattress" or other safe place that does nobody any good. I think the people that should help pay for the economic problems we are now in are the owners (stock holders) of the banks that gave out all these crappy loans, and the politicians that allowed the laws to change to allow such high risk behavior.

Why should they? The wealthy already pay between 80-90% of the taxes in this country with the middle class making up the difference while the poor pay nothing. Punishing those who have made the American dream come true is simply encouraging failure. Lets punish success!, Yeah, That ought to do it! Why bother if your just going to foot the bill for those less ambitious? Maybe a better idea would be to repeal NAFTA and GATT and get our manufacturing jobs back into this country where they belong rather than farm them out to slave labor countries that dont have to pay import tariffs. That would stimulate the freakin economy. Our economy has been rolling down hill since Clinton signed those treaty's and Bush has done nothing but make it worse by not repealing them. It's real hard to keep a strong economy when you don't produce anything and there are no jobs. Perot was a nutbag but he was right about the "big sucking sound" we would hear if Nafta and GATT passed as our manufacturing jobs were sucked south or overseas. Our economy has been on a downward spiral ever since and now we are on the brink of the collapse that was predicted 16 years ago.
