Is it normal or common for some people to have a temporary "arrhythmic heart" symptom after taking some analgesics or cold/flu medications?

    Yes, some decongestants will cause some heart arrhythmia, if its too uncomfortable, ask your Dr for a different medication.

    I feel the need to respond to both the original question and to one of the answers.

    Firstly some cold and flu remedies also contain caffeine which is known to occasionally cause arrhythmias, e.g. palpitations.

    To the guy whose wife has had 200 episodes of atrial fibrillation, even with a pacemaker, I would suggest that this maybe needs checking out, as A-F is precisely what the pacemaker is intended to prevent!

    I have heard that it is a side effect of some cold/flu meds. Consider yourself lucky Tom, my wife has a pacemaker and it records any periods of A-fib and she has had nearly 200 episodes since the beginning of this year!
