Yes. There are various anonymity types on AB. You can: - choose the avatar name "anonymous" and / or a standard "Bag" as avatar image - choose a quite common avatar name, if possible already choosen by many other users, such as "eddie" - tell as few things as possible about yourself in your profile - do not give any personal information in your questions, answers and comments. A variation of this would be to give *false* information about yourself. - refuse to give information which would make it too easy to find the real you, such as the small town where you are living, your name, your email address, phone number, web page and the like. - refuse to give information that could harm you, such as your password, your bank account number, valuable objects belonging to you, when you are going away for holidays, whom you are voting for, how many years you spent in jail, if you are a werewolf, etc. - and many other things that you would not tell everyone in real life, for instance how old you are, how much money you earn, how is your sex life. And remember this important thing: anyone in the world can read everything that you are writing on AB! Even without creating an account. On the other hand, the more you tell about yourself, the more your online personality will be like your real life personality, and the more people will know who you really are, which is a good basis for friendship. But you could have a lot of reason to be anonymous to protect yourself. You can also change your level of anonymity. Or open another account. But be cautious about the information you give in your questions and comments: it cannot be easily changed. (but if you give good reasons to the staff, they will delete it)

I will admit I find it confusing on which anonymous I am talking too...but I understand the why of it.

Yes it's okay. It's the default name given by AB itself once we open an account here.
