  • Chances are you are not going to get a public defender for fighting a parking ticket. Send a letter to the police department under the header put Re: "Motion for Discovery" In the body of the letter tell them you want the copy of the call log for the specific date & time frame on which you called which is necessary to defend your case. Give them 14 days to respond. Certify the letter. Or you can try going through the local JP court where the hearing will be and ask them if they have paperwork and will subpoena the records on your behalf. Hope this works for ya!
  • No public defender for a parking ticket. Just pay the ticket. Your time and trouble are worth far more than you will pay.
  • Well, if anyone is interested.... I was able to get a copy of the call log to prove I called. I mailed it to New Jersey and my father went to the police station. They basically gave my 83 year old dad the run around. So I called the Garfield municipal office and basically the lady who answered told me that even if I have proof I called, I would still have to pay a court fee of $35. So there you go. This dirty state will get your money.
  • This town is total BS. I'm also having a major problem in Garfield NJ. My car is registered in California. I must call every night to be put on a parking list. One night I forget to call and I get a ticket. Not a problem, I go online to pay and there I find 20 other tickets for the same BS. Now I get a court date. I call the court and they tell me the judge wants to know why I have so many tickets. I don't know what to do, but i do know someone is being dirty. I will go to court and try to fight all these unknown tickets. If i lose I'll ask the judge how much he'll pay me to lock me up. If he makes a good offer, I'll accept. I did 10 years in Prison and Im not affraid of getting locked up for tickets. Once in Jail I'll have them take me to the hospital everyday on their tab. $1000 in tickets will end up costing the incompetent system $20000. We the tax payers always lose!
