    My 2003 Kia Sorento just started doing this also. I figure it is a bad relay some where but have not figured out where yet. Until I figure it out what I have been doing is popping the hood and unplugging the fan if I am going to be some where parked for awhile. Please post if you find out the fix to the problem.

    You are correct the fan does run on auxilary power. Also it is expected to continue running after the engine is turned off until the temp switch tells it to turn off. The problem is that it NEVER turns off and continues to run on auxilary power until the battery is drained.
