The only book I've read, cover to cover in one sitting, was (and this is kind of weird, it was many many years ago, I was sick and in and out of the bathroom all night, plus I'd never heard of Steven King at the time) Salem's Lot. It helped to keep my mind off things, if you know what I mean. I still read King, along with many others; as a matter of fact I've recently started Lisey's Story, by King.
The last one I read like that was "Angels & Demons" by Dan Brown.
The Bible. I kept hitting that thumper over the head with it over and over and over again
My check book, I don't have enough money in it
child named it
Life of Pi

The one I just finished, "The Lady Chosen" by Stephanie Laurens.
Yes, I am addicted to trashy historical romance novels.
Eldest by Christopher Paolini- I'm just about to start the 3rd book Brisingr
"Young J. Edgar: Hoover, the Red Scare, and the Assault on Civil Liberties" by Kenneth D. Ackerman
"The God of Animals" by Aryn Kyle. It's not, like, high literature, but it's a very engaging narrative.
A Thousand Splendid Suns.
(Must read!!!)

A Feast for Crows, George R. R. Martin
The final Harry Potter book...I read it in 2 days. Before that I would say Angels and Demons.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Loved it. Loved the series.
Blood Ties, by Jim Butcher. It's a Harry Dresden novel, what's not to like? :D
"The Life of Spiders" I know that sounds weird but it was just so interesting and in layman's terms and I read it cover to cover over 3 days.
Steven Saylor's The Triumph Of Caesar.
"Major"
"Choke" by Chuck Palahniuk. Disturbing, but wonderful.
Glass Castle. Awesome book.
It was called "toxic parents". It was written from an adult survivor of every kind of child abuse there is and as I read it i thought OMG this women was a fly on the wall in my house. She knew exactly what I felt, exactly how my parents had treated me, etc. I recommend it to anyone who has been abused my parents or who is in any kind of toxic domestic violence relationship. it is awesome
Right now it's American Gods by Neil Gaiman. (Lol, Gaiman.) It's so weird, and messed up, and the author's experience with graphic novels gives him an edge in the description of his characters. They're short and basic, and the rest is elaborated through their dialogue, which is very unique, and well done.
Also, Odin's raven telling the protagonist to f*** himself after he asks him to say "nevermore" lmao. XD
I am currently not putting down Brisingr by Christopher Paolini. I am PISSED that this isn't the last book.
WHATEVER HAPPENED TO TRILOGIES?!?!
No, everybody makes FOUR books now. What the hell is that about?!
The Magicians Nephew by C.S Lewis

I don't know that I can recommend Lisey's Story, as I've just started reading it. One of the things that interested me about Salem's Lot, was the part about Hubie (I think his name was Hubie Marsten) hanging himself in an upper room, of the Marsten house. It was eerily similar, to a short story I wrote as a kid, for a school Halloween project. It was so close (just the part about Hubie) I'd felt as though I'd been ripped off. "Hey, who is this guy King, and where'd he get my story?" Ha!

interesting how ideas seemingly get "transmitted" over the airwaves isnt it? makes one wonder if any of our ideas are truly original or if were all just tapping into the collective unconscious...

Yeah, I guess we're all more alike in thought and imagination, than we realize.
